About Madison

At Madison Elementary School, we believe every child is capable of learning and that it is our responsibility to motivate, encourage and nurture each student to reach his or her maximum potential. We provide daily opportunities for our children to succeed. We give children unlimited promise and encourage them to plant their roots and spread their wings. Our mission is to establish high standards of learning that we expect all students to achieve. Our bottom line is proficiency for all students in an exemplary school held in high regard in the community of West Allis and the state of Wisconsin.

As such, Madison Elementary School focuses on the whole child. We offer a traditional educational program with enrichment opportunities as well as remediation opportunities. We accommodate the learning styles of all students through various types of assessment, differentiation of material, and supporting each student's personal development by continuously refining our instructional program. We offer a program for the gifted and talented child, have an early and intermediate literacy program for the struggling reader, a noon study center and an after school program to address reading, writing and mathematics. Our pyramid of interventions when children are not achieving is as important as our daily instruction.

Madison Elementary School is located at 1117 S. 104th Street. It is situated in the middle of a quiet community of single-family homes with most of our children living well within walking distance of our school. We have a beautiful, spacious campus with lots of foliage and grassy areas. We have 203 students who are greeted at the door every day with "an invitation to learn." We believe that if you capture a child's heart, you will have their mind. We have twenty highly trained teachers who are passionate about children and their practice. We offer regular education, special education, art, music, physical education, reading and library science.

We offer a very strong fine arts department that provides a quality experience in the visual arts and music. We offer band, orchestra and Suzuki lessons with opportunities to perform in front of an audience. The arts are an integral part of the Madison experience.

Physical education classes, art classes and instructional media center classes round out the special class experience for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Opportunities abound at Madison school!

All children are involved in monthly "state of the school" meetings where they discuss our virtue of the month and identify actions that exemplify the virtue. Children also have opportunities to be a part of various advisory clubs during their school career and to form strong connections with their peers.

We have a very involved PTA at Madison Elementary School that provides direct support of school programs and goals through fundraising. Volunteering and being a part of your child's school experience is encouraged and supported by PTA.
